They need your support!

The 8th District of the 1st Division of the Department of Illinois was created in 1936. Demographic changes in the Chicago area overloaded the then 4th District which generated the creation of the 8th District.
Our mission is to provide coordination and support for and between our Posts, provide council on local issues as needed, and represent the Posts on Division and Department issues and meetings.
8th Districtís geographic coverage is all American Legion Posts in southern IL Cook County suburbs of Chicago, being south of Chicagoís city limits, east and north of Will County and west of the IL/IN state line.
As of July 2020 we have twenty five (21) Posts and over 2800 Legion members.

While the 8th District has monthly meetings, hosted by a different Post each month, in addition a District Officer also visits each Post in the District at least once each year to listen to local issues and discuss Legion programs, etc.
